Tai chi for asthma
Today more than at any other time that I can remember, I see people walking a round with inhailers.
We find in our classes that after practising LFA Tai Chi for several weeks, most people find they no longer need to use their inhailers.
We still encourage our students to carry them round with them.
However the results are very encouraging, and come about by the specialised breathing techniques we are able to teach.
Diet is another important aspect and by eliminating certain foods and adding others people have found that the quality of their health improves.
The Chang Ming Tai Chi diet is taught within the LFA.
The breathing exercise featured on the video clip is an excellent exercise for the lungs and will help you if you suffer from Asthma.
Starting position feet shoulder width apart, both arms by your sides.
1/ Breathe in through the nose as you take your right arm up above your head palm facing to the ceiling (fingertips pointing to the rear).
2/ Breathe out through the mouth as you form a loose fist with your right hand and lower it down. At the same time your left arm moves up above your head, palm facing to the ceiling (fingertips pointing to the rear).
3/ Breathe in through the nose as you form a loose fist with your left hand and lower your arm down. At the same time raise your right arm above your head, palm facing to the ceiling (fingertips pointing to the rear).
4/ Breathe out through the mouth as you lower your right arm.
Repeat all movements on the opposite side.
Repeat once more on each side.
All of the different sets of LFA Tai Chi are beneficial to Asthma sufferers, I would recommend that you start with our Tai Chi Form set before progressing to the other sets.
If you attend an LFA class your Instructor will be able to advise you, all of our classes are taught in warm friendly environments.
Loose fitting clothing, soft shoes and a smile is all that you require.
