Tai Chi For Cancer

This is the word that strikes fear into the heart of all of us, yet in this modern day world most of us know someone who is affected by it.

Although there are many different types of cancer, my late Master wrote that cancer is caused by very low energy levels indeed, so the first thing we need to do is look at ways of improving your energy levels.

The LFA do not possess a magic wand, we can only explain what we have to offer, there are choices to be made and these are up to you.
We work along side the medical profession, offering ways to help you.

First you need to look at your intake of food, what do you put into your body? If you are following a normal western diet, it is not helping you.

If you really want to help yourself, if you really want to improve the quality of your life then look closely at what you eat and drink.

The LFA offer a diet handed down through the centuries called Chang Ming. I have published a book call the Tai Chi Long Life Diet and Recipe Book which fully explains the benefits.

I also suggest you look at the way you breathe, correct breathing is essential to expelling toxins from the body. Learn to breathe in through the nose allowing the breath to sink as low as possible (expanding the stomach).

Breathe out through the mouth (contracting the stomach). If you are not used to this type of breathing, it will feel strange at first.

You may feel a little light headed as the body is not use to taking in so much oxygen (practise from a seated position). With practise this type of breathing will become second nature to you.

Study and learn our Tai Chi Form as this will help to improve your body’s own internal energy (Chi). Next learn our Tai Chi Dance this will help you to gather external energy (Li).

If you are able, try and spend time outside (sitting underneath a tree is a good way of soaking up Li energy). Please remember there should be no strain when practising any of our exercises if you are unsure please consult your doctor.

A ginger compress is another way of helping however, it does depend on the individual case. This webpage is designed to offer you an insight into how we can help you to help yourself.

I am there in my books and videos to help you, I wish you well in the future whatever you choose.

Tai Chi For Panic Attacks

If you are currently suffering from panic attacks, there are some questions you need to answer.

How important is it to you to have your life back?
Are you prepared to make changes to your diet?
Are you prepared to devote some of your time to practise gentle movements?

Panic attacks are becoming more common place in our stressful society and can strike even the most physically fit amongst us.

However just because you are physically fit on the outside does not mean you are healthy on the inside.

The symptoms of hyperventilating make the individual feel as though they are having a heart attack or stroke. It is difficult to breathe out and the whole experience can be very frightening.

During a panic attack the greatest aid is a simple paper bag, simply make sure you cover your nose and mouth and breathe in to the paper bag. You will find your breathing will start to return to normal.

It is important to look at what caused the attack in the first place, LFA Tai Chi deals with treating the cause not the symptom.

A young professional business woman found herself experiencing panic attacks, I recommended she practise the Tai Chi Form, although the lady is unable to attend a weekly class she practises from the video every morning (approx 10 minutes).

After discussion, it was also agreed that a cup of sage tea would be taken every morning and that coffee, tea, fizzy drinks and chocolate would be cut from her diet. Being a self confessed chocoholic, when she stopped eating the chocolate bars, she benefited from the added bonus of weight loss.

At first there were still one or two wobbly moments, they had more to do with the memory and the association with what triggered her panic attacks in the first place.

With her life restored and only minor adjustments made to her daily routine, I received a wonderful thank you letter.

I personally follow a three thousand year old health diet called Chang Ming, and would strongly recommend that if you are truly interested in good health it should become part of your daily life.

The Tai Chi Form provides the foundation for all of our Form sets, the movements are soft and gentle yet highly effective in relieving stress as well as helping to improve the body from the inside to the outside.

Chi and Li Harmony Breathing Exercise, this exercise is one of over three thousand exercises we have in our LFA Medicine Chest. It is easy to practise and can be completed in the time it takes to boil a kettle.

Tai Chi For Menopause

This can be a devastating time for women, our bodies are changing whether we want them to or not. With menopause can come hot flushes, aching joints, bloating, lack of sex drive to name but a few.

Now to add to it all the media is full of the added risks of taking HRT.
Sometimes life feels like an emotional roller coaster, and getting through the day is hard for us and the people who make up our world.

Interestingly enough in China where women eat soya, chickpeas and other beans and pulses. The effects of menopause are not as pronounced as they are in the western world.

I feel that I can write about menopause because I to have reached that stage in my life. However, I have not taken any kind of drug or visited my doctor for over twenty years.

I prefer to follow the Chang Ming diet, I use my knowledge of LFA Tai Chi to keep me calm on what could possible be roller coaster days.
Because I continually practise as well as teach the Tai Chi Form, my joints are kept mobile without strain.

My energy levels are high and I find I am able to teach classes and workshops nationally and find the time to write books and run the LFA Association.

When I was younger I use to think fifty was really old, now I see it merely as a number. They say you are as young as you feel, if you are feeling your age then perhaps now would be a good time to take up LFA Tai Chi.

A lady in one of my classes recently told me that since she had taken up LFA Tai Chi, her hot flushes had stopped and she felt more able to cope.

Her back problems have also eased. Now she is working on easing the pain in her hip, her exact words to me where ‘Not bad for £3 a week’. Some people feel a thing can’t be any good unless it costs them a fortune. At the LFA we offer excellent value at an affordable price. All of our registered Instructors are committed to continually updating their own training to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.

I suggest you start with the Tai Chi Form this has the effect of calming the mind, while at the same time keeping your joints mobile without strain.

Another helpful exercise is shown if you press the button for panic attacks. Please read the information offered on the Chang Ming diet, remember this website has been put together to help you.

Each week we will feature answers to questions emailed to us, log on to find out how we can continue to help you.

Tai Chi For Stress

Stress seems to develop in every walk of life, in this modern day world of rush, rush, rush. We need to take some time out for ourselves and LFA Tai Chi is ideal for this.

When you walk into an LFA class for the first time you are greeted with a smile and you are the most important person.

We don’t tell you to relax, we show you some simple movements, your mind is pleasantly occupied with where to place your hands and feet and suddenly you find your self smiling.

Completely forgetting the worries you left at the door.

At first you have to learn the mechanics of the Tai Chi before you can gain the deeper benefits. From your very first class you will notice something special happening to you.

Stress can manifest its self in many forms of illnesses and is one of the largest causes of absenteeism from work.

Practising he LFA Tai Chi Form is an excellent place to start, the movements are gentle and are put together in such a way that they help to ease a troubled mind.

One of over three thousand breathing exercises taught within the LFA is shown in the video clip. It is an excellent way to ease stress and should be practised daily.

Starting position :- heels together, toes pointing slightly outwards, arms by your sides.

1/ Breathe in through the nose as you circle your arms round in front of your chest (palms facing down, fingertips pointing towards each other).

2/ Breathe out through the mouth as you extend your arms out sideways at shoulder height.

3/ Breathe in through the nose as you lean forwards (ladies keep their palms facing downwards, gentlemen turn their palms to face upwards).

4/ Breathe out through the mouth as you straighten your body, returning to the starting position.

Repeat all four movements three more times.

Sage tea is also excellent for helping you to keep calm (it is an acquired taste).
NOTE. Ladies who are pregnant should not drink sage tea as it can stop milk production.

Tai Chi For Knee Problems

If your knee joints are swollen I suggest that you apply a cabbage poultice. Simply cut out the thick stem out of a large cabbage leaf, iron the it on both sides with a hot iron. Apply to the swollen area and secure it with a bandage.

Then go to bed with the cabbage in place, remove the poultice the following morning. Most people find that the application needs to be repeated on a regular basis.

The application of a ginger compress is also an excellent form of pain relief. The Taoist Walk is another area to look at.

The Taoist Walk teaches a way of moving the lower part of your body without strain, there should be no discomfort when you practise the Taoist Walk.

The movements of our Tai Chi Form are taught by teaching you how to move your feet first. This ensures that we are able to help you personally gain the maximum benefit.

Our movements also improve your balance and co-ordination. All of this is taught in an easy to follow friendly format.

Most styles of Tai Chi are basically a slowed down martial art, our style of Tai Chi has always been taught purely for health.

Students wishing to study the martial art side of our Arts, studied Feng Shu the Lee Family Arts style of Kung Fu. Our Tai Chi is based purely on Chinese Medicine and all of our registered instructors study an intensive training programme.

Diet plays an important part when it comes to the health of your body, look at what you are putting in; then look at what you are getting out. If you are not happy with your current state of health, then something needs to change.

The ancient Taoist Masters experimented with different food types, to find out what should be eliminated from our diet and what should be added.

Thanks to their efforts today the Lee Family Arts are able to offer the valuable information contained with the Chang Ming diet. This diet was brought out of China in the nineteen thirties by Chan Kam Lee who was the last in line of the Lee Family.

It is thanks to his teaching and the dedication of training, plus the teachings of my Late Master Chee Soo that the LFA is able to pass this information on to you. Tai Chi

Tai Chi For Testosterone

Testosterone is something which is usually laughed and sniggered at, yet the simple fact is that it is something which affects all of us (whether male and female), sooner or later.

The most commonly recognised side effect is a lower sex life, and although it is sometimes accepted as a matter of cause in older men it can affect men of all age groups.

If you are experiencing difficulties in this area, then something is amiss. Your body may be functioning quite well in other areas. However you need to look closely at your life style.

Your sexual energy is your most powerful energy, if your body is drained in other areas it will close down your sex drive so that the rest of your body can continue to function.

The best way to tackle this problem is firstly to acknowledge it, then to look at ways of improving the quality of your life.

Do you have harmony, a balance between work, rest and play?
LFA Tai Chi can help improve your energy levels, by practising our Tai Chi Form and our Tai Chi Dance.

Recently research showed that two professional boxers before a big fight had roughly equal testosterone levels.

After the fight the winner’s testosterone levels soared where as the losers testosterone levels diminished. If your mind is relaxed your body functions, if your mind is distressed, certain areas of your body start to shut down.

The LFA Form set uses all of the body without strain, although the movements appear very gentle, you are in fact giving your body a complete workout both internally and externally.

Another side effect of low testosterone levels is osteoporosis; this ailment can be very painful indeed and confirms to the mind that your body is under stress.

Again LFA Tai Chi is excellent for this condition it is a load bearing exercise, that has proved very helpful for many men and women. LFA Tai Chi builds self confidence allowing you to be more in control of your life. We live in an age of choices, how much you want your life back is up to you!

Another area to look at is diet, over the years thousands of people have come to me for help. Use the video clip featured on the button for Stress and Panic attacks these two exercises are excellent for helping to calm the mind. Tai Chi

Tai Chi For Fertility

Starting a Family should be a happy pleasurable time, if you are reading this you could be experiencing problems. We offer you easy to follow advice, which will improve the quality of your health. The video clip shows a breathing exercise which I suggested to one of my students.

You should practise it every day along with the breathing exercises featured on our page for stress and on our page for panic attacks.Take the time to study the clips and follow the written instructions, the exercises need to be practised by both partners twice daily.

An old fashion remedy for fertility is a daily intake of raspberries, I personally know of a couple who moved house. The garden was full of raspberries, after years of trying to conceive the following year the couple found themselves proud parents.

All aspects of our Tai Chi will help improve the quality of the individuals health, a good place to start is with our Tai Chi Form. This can be learnt in a local class or in the comfort of your own home through one of our easy to follow video’s or books.

If you have tried everything then it is time you looked at changing your diet, what we put into our bodies has a great effect on the people we are. Please remember there should be no strain when practising any of our exercises.

Starting position both heels together toes pointing slightly outwards, both arms by your sides.

1/ Breathe in through the nose as you step to your right, feet shoulder width apart. Place your heel down first, bend your right knee, moving your hips across to the right side of your body and straighten your left leg. At the same time place your hands on your hips.

The movements are gentle and ensure that no strain is placed on your body. When you practise our Tai Chi Form you are giving the whole of your body a complete work out

I personally have taught many Mother’s to be over the years and each one of them has gone on to have a happy, healthy contented baby.

Morning Sickness:- A natural remedy is to suck on a small piece of ginger root.

The Taoist Walk is an excellent tonic for you and your baby. This is because in the West we tend to carry a lot of energy congestion around the pelvic area.

Practising the Taoist walk helps to ease this congestion ensuring that your body’s natural energy moves freely.

The button for Stress also shows a video clip of a specialised breathing exercise for the relief of stress, it is a useful exercise which is easy to practise.

Plenty of fresh air and walking is also very helpful. When you are outside you gather more of the earth’s natural energy called Li energy, this will add to your own energy levels.

High Blood Pressure. This is an area that is always closely monitored, correct breathing can help. Practise breathing in through the nose allowing your breath to sink as low as possible (expanding your stomach).

Breathe out through your mouth as you contract your stomach. If you are not use to deep breathing please practise from a seated position to begin with as you may feel a little light headed if you are not use to such a large oxygen intake.

Fennel Tea. Helps the milk production in new mums and also has a calming effect.

Parsley Tea. Helps the kidneys. In Chinese Medicine the kidneys are a very important organ indeed.

If you are truly concerned about your health and your baby’s I recommend that you consider our Chang Ming Health Diet. Tai Chi
We find in our classes that after practising LFA Tai Chi for several weeks, most people find they no longer need to use their inhailers.

We still encourage our students to carry them round with them. However the results are very encouraging, and come about by the specialised breathing techniques we are able to teach.

Diet is another important aspect and by eliminating certain foods and adding others people have found that the quality of their health improves. The Chang Ming Tai Chi diet is taught within the LFA.

The breathing exercise featured on the video clip is an excellent exercise for the lungs and will help you if you suffer from Asthma. Starting position feet shoulder width apart, both arms by your sides.

1/ Breathe in through the nose as you take your right arm up above your head palm facing to the ceiling (fingertips pointing to the rear).

2/ Breathe out through the mouth as you form a loose fist with your right hand and lower it down. At the same time your left arm moves up above your head, palm facing to the ceiling (fingertips pointing to the rear).

3/ Breathe in through the nose as you form a loose fist with your left hand and lower your arm down. At the same time raise your right arm above your head, palm facing to the ceiling (fingertips pointing to the rear).

4/ Breathe out through the mouth as you lower your right arm.

Repeat all movements on the opposite side.
Repeat once more on each side.

All of the different sets of LFA Tai Chi are beneficial to Asthma sufferers, I would recommend that you start with our Tai Chi Form set before progressing to the other sets.

If you attend an LFA class your Instructor will be able to advise you, all of our classes are taught in warm friendly environments. Loose fitting clothing, soft shoes and a smile is all that you require.

Tai Chi For MS

Please remember there should be no strain when practising any part of LFA Tai Training. If you are unsure please consult your doctor.

I have witnessed many people with various stages of MS improve from practising LFA Tai Chi.

Below are the four main stages that I have taught and helped people with.

1ST Stage – Balance. How is your balance? The gentle movements of our Tai Chi Form help to improve your balance and co –ordination.

2nd Stage – Numbness. Do you have lack of feeling in part of your body? We teach specialised breathing exercises to help you move your body’s natural energy round your body.

3rd Stage – Lack of mobility. I personally have taught people in wheelchairs, who are unable to take their own weight for any length of time. The movements of the Form are practised from a seated position.

4th Stage – Bedridden. Mentally alert, with the use of only one little finger. Taught by LFA Tai Chi Video, the movements can be practised in the head and the correct breathing applied. The person caring for the MS sufferer can also practise the LFA Tai Chi Form. It helps to ease stress and calms the mind.

The LFA is a caring profession and we would like to help you. We can only do so if you put in the effort.

Often people come to me and ask me what they can do for whatever ails them. My medicine chest consists of movements, and correct breathing exercises, that can be practised without strain.

When my youngest daughter was at school her teacher asked her class ‘What would you find in a first aid kit?’ My daughter replied, ‘Ginger and a cabbage.’ I have no magic wand, however, I have seen miracles work in many ways.

I use the cures I have been taught in over 20 years of training. ‘The movements taught within our Arts have worked for others, try them for yourself.’

Another area is diet, it is important to assess your diet. If you feed your body junk, it will not help you. I follow a 3000 year old health diet, not a diet to lose weight but a diet to improve the quality of my health.

The diet is called Chang Ming and it involves eliminating harmful foods and substituting foods that will help.

In the West we are trained to follow our taste buds, perhaps we should look at re-educating them. Find out more about this by clicking on the ‘health diet‘ button.

Breathing. We all breathe from the moment we are born without giving it a second thought.

Try and practise breathing deep into the abdomen, this way you use all of your lungs and will help to eliminate toxins from them.
